Jacob B, Year 7, who is part of the Northgate News Team, decided to interview Mr Llewellyn, who has been part of the PE Department for many years. Here’s what he had to say in response to Jacob’s questions.
What is the best thing about being a teacher?
It’s more to do with being a P.E. teacher because I get to inspire and talk to people about sport.
What are your hobbies outside of school?
My hobbies are sports based. I coach rugby and I also like to watch my children play their sports.
Describe Northgate in 3 words:
Supportive, busy, inclusive.
If you were not a teacher, what job would you like to have and why?
A carpenter because I like the idea of being proud to have an end product.
Have you had any other jobs apart from being a teacher?
I have worked as a delivery driver, and an auctioneer’s assistant. I’ve also worked in farming and worked in children’s transport.”
What’s your favourite sport to play — and your favourite to teach?
My favourite to play was rugby, but my favourite to teach is basketball.
If you could introduce any new sport or activity to the PE curriculum, what would it be?
I would like to see padel tennis as it is a great game for all abilities. However, it would mean building a few courts somewhere!
If you could have any famous athlete visit Northgate, who would it be and why?
Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (Nitro from Gladiators) because he’s inspiring and full of energy. Jodie Ounsley (Fury from Gladiators) because she has done lots of things even though she is a deaf person.
Do you support any particular sports team?
I don’t support a football team. I support the Leicester Tigers and Wales in rugby.
If you could compete in the Olympics, which event would you choose?
I would say table tennis.
