Pera, Year 8, is part of the Northgate News Team. She decided to interview Miss Patuzzo who is part of the Geography and History department. Here’s what she had to say in response to Pera’s questions.
What inspired you to become a Geography and History teacher?
In the past I have taught young children and then liked the idea of teaching.
What do you enjoy most about working at Northgate?
The other staff and students. It is very welcoming; you don’t feel scared or intimidated.
Describe Northgate in 3 words
Welcoming, Fun, unpredictable
Have you had any other jobs apart from being a teacher?
Yes, I have worked as a teaching assistant and worked in a museum with the archives, preserving them and teaching people about the documents we had and how an archive worked and the importance of one.
If you could take students on a field trip anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Hampton court because it’s an amazing place to go and learn about a Tudor building and the events that took place there or the Palace of Versailles (Paris) as there are so many historic events that took place.
If you could live in any historical era (with modern comforts!), which would you choose?
16th Century to see Henry VIII’s life, all of the beheadings and how he had so many wives.
What’s a fun or surprising fact about you that students might not know?
Before being a teacher, in school I was in a hockey team called Dragons.
Why did you choose to teach Geography and History?
I have a degree in History. I had a couple of jobs that were complimentary and good for History too and they were all very interesting and fun to have. However each of my previous jobs had elements of teaching so it was a natural progression to become a teacher.
